About me- Wendy Pittick 19 Mar 2014 15:44 #19

Hi all- I am the current Club secretary & have been a member for a couple of years. I am also a Maintenance volunteer with the Bibbulmun Track Foundation .Once the weather cools I hope to invite the club to join me on a picnic out on the section of Track that I am responsible for( north of Grimwade)
My interest in photography started back in high school & I was always the one that had the camera ready for moments of action. This now seems quite ironical as 'people' photography is my least favourite & really pushes me out of my comfort zone! I am far happier out pursuing 'landscape/outdoor' & sport action opportunities. I upgraded from a Canon 400D to now owning a Canon 7D , a 3 x Canon lens's- 18-200, macro & a 'nifty fifty' 50mm - each having their own moment of use.
One of the great advantages of joining this club has been the willingness shown by many members to share knowledge & offer support & encouragement to new folk. It took me a while to take that first BOLD step of entering photos in the monthly exhibition but once having the experience of hearing a helpful critique from one of the many visiting judges the enthusiasm to improve & learn becomes quite infectious!
I TRY to use Lightroom 4 & am every teachers nightmare!! However bit by bit at my own pace I am growing in knowledge!
I look forward to reading other members ‘about me’!

I joined PGOB at the beginning of 2013 at the encouragement of Armelle. I have used a camera since the old days of using my Dad's Box Brownie when I was at high-school, and upgraded after that. I was reluctant at first to turn digital, but It was when I bought my first digital camera in 2005 that my photography really took off. I now have 2 cameras that I use regularly - my go everywhere with me Canon G11 and my Canon 60D for my serious work. I bought this last year when my 450 had an internal hemorrhage.
My husband and I like to travel as much as we can, and have seen a lot of Western Australia, and we enjoy going bush and camping. I work 4 days a week, but in my spare time I write freelance - travel articles mostly - for a couple of Australian magazines. I am always looking for new places to explore and write about, and of course take photos of to illustrate the story.
Food photography has become a bit of a passion in the last few years, but I still don't have the confidence to "put myself out there" and promote myself as a food photographer. But I am working towards that goal.
By joining the Photography Group I hoped to meet other photographers, learn, get some exposure, and get some feedback about my work.

I was interested to hear Wendy that you are a Bibbulmum Track volunteer. I have walked a couple of short sections of the track. I would love to go out with you some time on the track....and already have a magazine article in mind......
